Assistance Dogs are trained to help to support an individual with a disability in every day tasks. In the UK our disability laws (Equality Act 2010) state that a reasonable adjustment such as amending a no pet policy rule must be made to help disabled people to be able to access public spaces such as supermarkets, hospitals and cafes.
In a none pet friendly environment an assistance dog should be able to calmly and quietly navigate these public spaces on a loose lead by the side of their disabled handler, be toilet trained and be able to settle down next to their handler.
